Digitizing Decentralized Textile Supply Chain: KOSHA's SCM Solution for Looms of Ladakh
KOSHA implemented it's comprehensive Supply Chain Management (SCM) solution for Looms of Ladakh, an all-women co-operative in the Ladakh region producing luxury wool products. This initiative addressed the challenges of managing decentralized operations in a challenging terrain while enhancing efficiency and communication across the supply chain.
Business Challenge : Looms of Ladakh, a cooperative of 400+ women members, faced significant challenges in managing their supply chain for high-value Pashmina products. The harsh terrain of Ladakh, combined with a decentralized member base and multiple value addition stages, made traditional supply chain management ineffective. KOSHA's SCM solution was tailored to digitize the entire supply chain, from raw material procurement to final sales, addressing these unique challenges head-on.
Implementation : The implemented solution comprised several key modules, each designed to streamline specific aspects of the operation. The Production module covers the entire manufacturing process, including purchasing, BOM (Bill of Materials), raw material issues, production status, and order tracking. The Inventory module manages warehouses, stock status, and valuation, while the Member module handles the cooperative's database, skills training, and work order management. Additionally, the Sales module takes care of invoicing, delivery notes, and payment tracking across various sales channels.
Impact: The impact of KOSHA's SCM solution was transformative. It enabled Looms of Ladakh to digitize its supply chain fully, allowing employees and members to manage their daily operations more efficiently. The platform resulted in reduced costs, improved accountability, and enhanced communication with artisans. This successful implementation not only streamlined the cooperative's operations but also earned recognition, winning the NASSCOM SME Inspire Award in 2023. The project stands as a testament to the power of technology in empowering rural artisans and modernizing traditional crafts industries.
